【PROCEDURES OF SALIVA SAMPLE COLLECTION】
1. 30 min before saliva samples collecting, rinse mouth with water
and fast after gargling.
2. Mark relevant sample information on the sampling tube and place
a spare funnel at the nozzle.
3. Relax and massage your cheeks, and spit into the funnel until
your saliva (no bubbles) reaches
the filling line.
4. Hold the tube in one hand to ensure that the sampling tube is in
an upright position, and
pour the sample preservation liquid into the tube along the funnel.
5. Keep the sampling tube in an upright position, screw off the
funnel, cover it with the sampling
tube cover and tighten it.
6. Mix the tightened sampling tube upside down 10-15 times, put it
into the packaging bag, and
discard the funnel, then the collection of saliva samples is
completed.
【How to Collect Your Own COVID-19 Saliva Specimen
(with Funnel and Transport Media)】
This step-by-step guide shows you how to collect your own saliva
sample with a funnel and
transport media.

Instructions
Do NOT eat, drink, chew gum, smoke, or vape for at least 30 minutes
before collecting saliva.
Wash your hands and make sure you have everything you need before
you begin. A saliva test
the kit consists of an empty tube with a blue liquid in the cap, a funnel,
a clear bag to place the
sample, a COVID-19 test requisition form, and a label for the tube with
your information.
Be sure to leave the small absorbent paper in the provided biohazard bag.
Label the tube with the date of collection, full name, and date of
birth or Health Card Number.
Failure to provide this information may result in rejection or
testing delay.
Complete all required fields of the COVID-19 test requisition form.
Peel back the paper on the test kit and remove the cap containing
the blue liquid and the
specimen tube with the attached funnel. Stick the completed label
on the tube. Place the cap
upside down in a clean, secure spot, it will be used to seal the sample.
To promote saliva production, rub the inside of your cheek with
your tongue and allow saliva to
pool in your mouth, then begin carefully spitting into the funnel
allowing saliva to run into the
tube until it reached the fill line (not including bubbles).
Once you have collected enough saliva, twist off the funnel top and
place in the garbage.
Immediately put the cap containing the blue liquid back on the
tube, twisting tightly until you
hear a click and the blue liquid mixes into the tube.
Shake tube for five seconds to mix saliva and liquid and do not
reopen the tube or remove any liquid.
Place the tube in the provided biohazard bag and place the fully
completed test requisition form
into the outer pocket of the bag. Close the bag.
Wash your hands and check with your school for where to drop off
the test. The specimen should
be kept at room temperature and dropped off within two hours of
collection.

Before collecting saliva:
Please read all of these instructions before beginning
Drink a cup of water 60 minutes before collecting saliva to ensure
adequate hydration for
saliva flow.
Do NOT eat, drink, chew gum, smoke, or vape for at least 30 minutes
before collecting saliva
Wash hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer
For specimen collection center personnel:
While wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), open
the sealed bag and
remove the specimen container and funnel from the package.
Label the specimen container with the patient’s full name, date of
collection, and one other
unique identifier such as date of birth or Health Card Number.
Failure to provide this information
may result in rejection or testing delay.
【STORAGE CONDITIONS】
Store at temperature 5 - 25 ℃.
【SAPMLE REQUIREMENTS】
Applicable sample types: Saliva.
Storage and transportation of samples: After the sample is
collected, it should be transported to the corresponding laboratory
for testing within 48 hours, and the storage temperature is 2-8℃.
If it cannot be transported to the laboratory within 48 hours, it
should be stored at -20 ℃ or below and sent to the corresponding
laboratory within one week. The sample should avoid repeated
freezing and thawing.
【INSTRUCTIONS】
| 1 | Clean your mouth 30 minutes before collecting the saliva sample,
rotate the tongue in the mouth to enrich saliva. |
| 2 | Deliver saliva into the collection funnel, until the 2 mL line is
as instructed on the tube. |
| 3 | Hold the saliva collection tube in an upright position, and use the
other hand to unscrew the saliva preservation solution tube cap. |
| 4 | Keep the collection funnel upright, and pour the saliva
preservation solution slowly into the collection tube. |
| 5 | Keep the collection tube upright, remove the collection funnel. |
| 6 | Screwcap onto the collection tube, and invert gently 5 times to mix
the saliva and saliva preservation solution thoroughly. Finally,
put it in a biohazard bag for easy transportation. |
【PRECAUTIONS】
- Samplers should be sent for testing as soon as possible after
sampling and immediately transported within 48 hours at 2-8 ℃.
Long-term storage should be placed in low-temperature conditions
below -20℃, -70℃ or store at freezing level -196℃.
- Sampling should be carried out in strict accordance with the
sampling procedure so that the sampling location is accurate and
the sampling strength is uniform and suitable. Otherwise, it will
affect the quality of the sample.
- Do not use expired products and products with damaged packaging.
